XL Wins AFP Award


As part of National Philanthropy Day, the Association of Fundraising Professionals presented XL Films with the Outstanding Media award for the work created for The Methodist Hospital's Stride4Stroke campaign.  The event, which was attended by more that 1,000 people, was held at the Hilton Americas hotel in downtown Houston.  XL was nominated for the award by The Methodist Hospital, Rice University and the Prison Entrepreneurship Program, all of whom  XL has had the pleasure of partnering with on various projects.

Texas Tech Production Gets Underway


5 days of location production got underway on the campus of Texas Tech University over the Halloween weekend.   The XL crew was shooting all over the campus, from sunrise to sunset.  Everyone at Tech chipped-in, including students, faculty and the great folks in the Development office to make it a successful shoot.  For more behind the scenes photo's, click here

REEL FX Taps XL for Texans Shoot

REEL FX called on XL to produce a shoot they were doing for the Houston Texans.  The project, which was shot on-location at Reliant Stadium, entailed recording various players performing on a green screen set.  XL coordinated the all-Houston crew as well as provided RED 4K production, DIT and data back-up.  The R3D footage was then archived onto a hard drive and shipped to Dallas for post-production.

Blausen Teams Up with XL Films


Blausen Medical tapped XL to shoot a medical education film for Wedgewood Communications.  The live action footage was shot on-location in Houston using XL's very own "Ginger".  Once Digital Artist, Bruce Ingram completed the color grading with Director/DP, Scott Jones, the footage was sent back to Blausen to be inter-cut with 3D animation which finished out the project.

XL Awarded Texas Tech Film


XL Films has recently been awarded the contract to produce the Capital Campaign film for Texas Tech University. The film, which will be shot in Lubbock, Tx., is designed to support the university's Capital Campaign, entitled, "Vision and Tradition...The Campaign for Texas Tech". Pre-production is underway and the XL gang is excited about this great opportunity to shoot in "Big Sky" country.

Love, HSP & XL Reunited


Love Advertising called on XL to create a 3rd round of TV spots for CenterPoint Energy's Home Service Plus. We headed back to Minneapolis for the production, however with warmer temps we were able to leave our parkas at home. It was great reuniting with the same MSP crew again. Thanks to Meghan, our Production Manager for making everything run so smoothly.

Authors of the Impossible


XL Films has begun production on a feature documentary film entitled, "Authors of the Impossible". Based on the forthcoming book by Jeffrey J. Kripal, the film examines the history of the paranormal and psychical research, and its relationship to popular culture and our understanding of consciousness. The first round of production took the XL crew to The Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA. for a week. The film is being shot entirely in 4K using the RED One Digital Cinema Camera System. Health Care Recruiting


Bernard Hodes teamed up with XL to create a variety of films for The Methodist Hospital. The project is designed to enhance the recruiting of nurses and allied health professionals. The XL crew shot for 4 days at several TMH locations capturing employees caring for patients, exemplifying Methodist's "Leading Medicine" philosophy. The films will be integrated into a new Career website.

Feature Film Hits Richmond, Tx

Producer Ryan Rettig, Actor Josh Denzinger, and Director Aaron Rottinghaus brought their feature film, ICD-10 to town and called on XL to provide Scott Jones and our RED One for B-camera photography. The film shot for 22 days in Richmond, Tx. XL plans on providing color grading and finishing services on the feature.

Stride4Stroke 5K Run & Walk

Since its inception, XL Films has partnered with The Methodist Hospital on the annual Stride 4 Stroke 5k Run & Walk. This is one of the great events that grows year after year. XL donates our time and resources to produce all of the marketing and advertising that helps to increase participation each year. The event was held on March 7th at Rice University. Stride 4 Stroke helps increase stroke awareness as Houston's only 5k dedicated to this debilitating disease. The run & walk is a day of activities for the entire family.
