“Morning Sickness”, winner of the 2007 Houston 48 Hour Film Project screened at the Cannes Film Festival in France in May as part of the Short Film Corner. The film, made for the 48 Hour Film Project, (viewable on our
Reels page) was made in only 48 hours by the XLAJ team, led by Adam White. After winning the Houston event, the film went on to compete against over 2000 other films internationally. The film screened at the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose where it received the Best of Houston award and was then selected from among all the winning city films to screen at Cannes. At Cinequest, “Morning Sickness” was also nominated for Best Directing and Best Acting.
The 48 Hour Film Project is the world’s largest timed film competition, with a tour that goes to over 60 cities around the globe, including Paris, Mumbai and Singapore. In the 48HFP, participating teams are given a genre, a character, prop, and a line of dialogue that they must work into their piece. They are responsible for putting together a cast and crew, and getting equipment and anything else needed to make a film/video. For more information see the
48 Hour Project website.
